THE SECOND ELAN VALLEY 10 MILE ROAD RACE 2008
A big thank you to all the runners who competed in the 10mile race on Sunday and all the marshals and volunteers who helped make the day successful for all.
Apologies to some of the front-runners who had to negotiate some colourful characters from the local area. We plan to man every gate with a Marshall to avoid any problems next year.
The weather was much improved and allowed runners and spectators alike to appreciate this wonderful part of the Elan valley and we hope to see you all next year.

Rhayader Carnival Annual Hill Race was held on Tuesday night at 7:30, organised by, and starting at the Lamb and Flag. With 132 runners the event and BBQ after were a great success. Link for results below.

Round the Lakes 20mile road race 2008
A big thank you to all the marshals and volunteers who helped make this years race a great success. With a calm if wet day the runners were treated to spectacular views to help them along the challenging and spectacular route that is the Round the Lakes 20milie road race. For the results please click HERE. And we hope to see you all next year for our 25th anniversary of the race.

Ras Cors Caron 2008
The club was well represented at this years Ras Cors Caron Half Marathon in Tregaron on Sunday 17th February 2008. Race report by Paul:
Though it was cold over in Tregaron (it always is for this run!!) the weather was very sunny and made for good views etc. 10 from Rhayader entered and we were the second largest club there after Aberystwyth AC. Phil ran well coming second in M45 in 1.20.39 and 4th overall from a field of 120 starters.
Rhayader results as follows:
Stafford 19th in 1.30.29, an improvement over last year of over 8 mins (2007 1.38.52)
Andrew 28th in 1.33.46, 13th in the M40 cat and again an improvement of over 7 mins (2007 1.40.30)
James 72nd in 1.49.57
Paul 78th in 1.51.35 (2007 1.53.48)
Alun 79th in 1.53.22 (2007 1.55.30)
Nondus 94th in 1.58.56
Suzanne 99th in 2.03.06
Ruth 100th in 2.03.57
Stephanie 104th in 2.06.40
Carol 110th in 2.11.11 improved by 3 mins over last year.
Monica Loat from Llandrindod also ran coming in 113th with a sprint finish in 2.17.26, for only her third run this year and her longest to date, she did brilliantly! Monica has also entered the London Marathon and was using this race as a training run, she hopes to do the 20, I have suggested that she comes along to club for some inspiration, training and support!
Both Staff and Andrew ran extremely well as you can see, there isn't a lot between them these days and I think their joint training is really paying off. Andrew hopes to improve on his marathon time in Budapest to at least 3.15 or better and going on this form and injury avoidance, I'm sure he'll get there. Lastly,if there had been categories for F55 & F60 both Nondus and Carol would have been first to come in, again a wonderful achievement.
All in all a good day out for the club and we all had a mug as a memento to take home!
