The Wessex 100
Much respect to Phil Kendrick and Mike Warrick who competed in
the Wessex 100 National 100-mile Challenge Event last weekend. This
year the route took in the South Downs with 11000 feet of ascent.
The 2 veterans had an ambitious target of 24hours. Conditions were
hot and due to a recent orienteering course they had been on they
finished all 100miles+7extra miles? in under 25hours. For more info
on this and next year’s event follow the link below.

Club Weekend October 2009
You may know that we were considering going to the Lausanne marathon
in Switzerland on 25 October this year for a club weekend. However,
it has now come to light that this clashes with another race in
The Elan Valley this year. Quite a few of our members will either
be running this event or helping out so we have decided to put Lausanne
off until next year.
We also thought that with the current euro/sterling exchange rate
we would stay in UK this year. We are proposing a club trip to the
Great Clarendon Marathon on Sunday 4 October which starts in Salisbury
and finishes in Winchester. It is an off raod marathon. There is
also a half marathon which starts at the half way mark 90 minutes
after the marathon.
There is a relay race over the marathon course with 4 runners each
completing 10.5K approximately.
Costs are £23 for the marathon and £17 for the half
marathon boith including transport to/from the start/finish. The
cost of the relay is £11.50 per person.
I am awaiting further details from the event organiser regarding
accommodation and my advices will follow, but for anyone interested
please pencil 4 October in your diary.
The website addreess for the event is www.clarendon-marathon.co.uk.
Any queries please email Chris

Budapest Marathon ( & associated
races) on 5 October 2008.
After looking at various alternatives we have decided the 2008 club

on 5 October 2008.
There will be a meeting next Thursday 10 January

air travel - Ryanair fly there from Liverpool and Bristol.
* There is loads to do - Spa's, guided walks, wine tasting, theatres
& museums, boat trips on the danube etc
* Hotel accommodation and cost of living is very reasonable there
(cheap beer Phil!)

follows:
10.00am - Marathon - 50 Euros
10.00am - Marathon relay - 3 runners - 12.6k/21.6k/8k - 80 Euros
per team
10.00am - Marathon relay - 5 runners - 12.6k/7.4k/8.2k/6k/8k - 100
Euros per team
10.30'ish - 30k - Join in the main marathon race at 12k - 30 Euros
10.15am - 7.5k - 12 Euros
9.20am or 9.40am - 4k fun run for beginners & kids - 5 Euros
* Courses are flat apart from inclines to bridges
* Entry fees include T-shirt, gift, timing chip, pasta party ticket,
certificate & photo

Hi all,Just a quick reminder that the club runs this Thursday and
next Thursday will be at 6.30pm from Llandrindod Wells Lake. If
Rhayader based runners could meet at the leisure centre at 6pm as
there could be some runners requiring lifts. We have advertised
these 2 nights as beginner taster sessions and we're not sure how
many will turn up, but there should be enough of us should there
be a number of different ability groups.
Also, the next cross country runs will be Wednesday 18 July at
Kinnersley, Wednesday 1 August at Shobden and Wednesday 22 August
at Westhope all starting at 7.30. Details are on the board but any
queries please contact either myself or Terry. It would be good
to put a team out in each race.
Finally, Stafford is doing some really good work in setting up
a club website - watch this space!! Thanks Staff.
Cheers for now.
